IPL Hair Removal - How Does It Work?

Beautyworks uses the ECOLITE hair removal system (Intense Pulsed light) which produces a high intensity flash of filtered light, the energy of this light is absorbed by the pigment of the hair.

The hair conducts the light and turns it into heat which destroys the surrounding cells making them incapable of producing further hair growth. Dark hairs are most easily treated due to the high concentration of pigment absorbing the light.

How many treatments are necessary?

For most clients 3 to 5 treatments are sufficient to permanently reduce an area of hair up to 85%. After the 1st treatment most clients get a significant reduction in hair density as the new hairs tend to become finer. Usually a minimum of 6 treatments is advised.

How to prepare for treatment:

Ideally hairs should be 1mm to 2mm long on the day of treatment, so we advise shaving if necessary prior to treatment. Avoid waxing, plucking and bleaching prior to treatment. Clients should avoid tanning 1 month prior to the treatment. Immediately after each treatment session the skin is particularly sensitive to UV light and strong sunlight should be avoided for 4-5 days. ECOLITE is non invasive and side effects are minimal, the skin may become red/pink like sun exposure and most clients experience no side effects.Any skin reactions should disappear within a few days or even hours. Is it permanent?

Most authorities would agree that using current laser and IPL technology,it is possible to permanently remove hair up to 85-90% Further histology studies have found destroyed and denatured hair follicle cellsin post treatment.
